The result will read that Trinidad and Tobago held Mexico to a goalless draw at AT&T Stadium in the opening match of the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup, but the story will be Mexico’s Hirving “Chucky” Lozano leaving on a stretcher after colliding with T&T’s Marvin Phillip in the 11th minute of the match. Lozano will miss the remainder of the tournament and is out 4-6 weeks with a head injury.

It was eerily similar to when Raul Jimenez of Wolverhampton Wanderers collided with Arsenal’s David Luiz in a head-on collision–albeit that one was in the air. Jimenez has not played since.

Mexico next plays Guatemala on Wednesday night in Dallas while T&T play El Salvador earlier on Wednesday at Toyota Stadium in Frisco.
