USA and Mexico to Face Each Other in Nations League Final

ARLINGTON, TX–The USA and Mexico will face each other on Sunday in the Final of the Concacaf Nations League after each winning their respective semifinals. However, the former was seconds away from elimination while the latter had a comfortable evening.

USA 3-1 Jamaica (aet)

Jamaica scored 31 second into the match as Greg Leigh scored as the US were caught off guard on a quick restart from a throw-in. For most of the remainder of the match, Jamaica made the odd goal stick and looked as though they would be in the final on Sunday, but with virtually the last kick of the match. The USA got a corner, Miles Robinson flicked a header on to it and it went off Jamaica’s Cory Burke and into the net for an own goal to send the match into extra time.

In extra time, Gio Reyna and Haji Wright took over. The former delivering a pair of thru-balls in the 97th and 109th minutes to the latter to put the USA ahead and into the final. It definitely looked for a while that another disappointing defeat was in the cards for the USA, but they got out of jail and into the final.
