Argentina’s First Half Performance Was Enough to Beat ‘El Tri’

In only 45 minutes ‘La Albiceleste’ took advantage of the defensive mistakes of Mexico and scored four goals to beat ‘El Tri’ in a friendly in San Antonio, Texas. Lautaro Martinez was the star of the match after scoring a hat-trick in only 39 minutes. The other Argentina goal was scored by Leandro Paredes via a PK.
Mexico’s backline was very deficient in this very important test against the South American giant. Carlos Salcedo and Nestor Araujo showed a very sloppy defensive game, which created many scoring opportunities for Argentina.
The South American team did not have many of its stars such as Lionel Messi or Sergio Aguero, but the young talented players, who received the opportunity from coach Lionel Scaloni, showed him they are ready to represent their nation.
‘El Tri’, on the other side, arrived at this match with one of the best lineups coach Gerardo ‘El Tata’ Martino could present. They used some type of alternative roster in their previous match against USA – who they beat 3-0. However, the performance and game plan did not work at all for the Mexicans. They looked confused in all lines, and even though they controlled the possession of the ball for most of the match, they were not able to get into the scoreboard.
