Prost Amerika signs first ever player sponsorship deal

Prost Amerika is to sponsor its first ever professional football player.

Calum Ferguson was Cascadia’s top scorer in the 2019 ConIFA World Cup with five goals. Having spent most of his career in Scottish club football, Calum is now intent on helping the inaugural Canadian Premier League next year where he is slated for the initial draft.

23-years-old, he has previously represented Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Premiership, Albion Rovers in Scotland’s League 1 and Elgin City in Scotland’s League 2.

He is also a Canadian International having represented Canada at Under 18 and Under 20 level, as well of course as his five caps for Cascadia gained in their inaugural matches as a ConIFA side.

“I’m really happy and humbled to be the first ever player sponsored by Prost Amerika. I knew when I played for Cascadia and met its fans, it was a very special place with football in its heart,” he told Prost.

“But to be sponsored by a site with its roots there as I look to progress my career as a hopeful part of the new Canadian league makes this a doubly exciting venture.”

Off the pitch he is a Scottish Gaelic speaker and has completed a media apprenticeship with BBC Scotland. He sits on the board of MG Alba who in partnership with the BBC produce the Gaelic media channel BBC Alba.

Through football and along with his media involvement with us, Calum hopes to promote the Gaelic language, Cascadia and the new Canadian league.

As part of the sponsorship deal, Calum will be writing articles on Scottish, Cascadian and Canadian football on this site. Calum is a great addition to our writing team and we look forward to supporting him both in and off the pitch with his hopeful journey to the new Canadian League

Calum is about to undergo Microdiscectomy back surgery and as part of his fundraising efforts he is crowdfunding to be able to afford the surgery which is not available on the NHS. If you would like to support Calum, you can contribute here.

He hopes to complete it this year, well in time to be able to play in the first games of the new Canadian League.
