The Dash drop three points to Sky Blue making playoff chances look grim

Houston lost a big chance to get closer to a playoff spot, as Sky Blue beat them 2-1 with a first half brace from former Dash and World Champion Carli Lloyd. Kealia Ohai scored for the home team in stoppage time.

The home team create all kinds of opportunities to score, but they were very inefficient in the final touch. Moreover, the team controlled the possession of the ball, but could not translate the dominance into goals to win the match.

On the other hand, Sky Blue created some opportunities in the counterattack and took advantage of big mistakes in the Dash defensive and midfield. Jen Hoy and Lloyd were the key players for the visitor’s attack. Also, defensively the team looked solid in pressuring and containing a Houston attack that intensified as the match progressed. Goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan offered a good performance to help her side win.

“We are going to fight until the end. We will take game by game.” said Dash captain Kealia Ohai after the match when she was questioned about the team’s position in the standings and the possibility of getting the team to the playoffs for the first time in club’s history.

Now Houston will be visiting Chicago to face the Red Stars whereas Sky Blue will host the Courage.
