Portland, OR – The gloves came off at Providence Park when the Portland Thorns clashed with the Chicago Red Stars, ultimately ending in a 3-0 victory for the Thorns. With multiple players going to ground throughout the match, each team would end the game with ten fouls. Two of the three yellow cards would go to Chicago (Stanton and Ogimi) with Tobin Heath picking up the third for a high clearance attempt that resulted in a boot to the face for Red Star defender Casey Short.

Portland keeper, Adrianna Franch, smothered any chances that slipped past her back-line and was not shy about taking out any teammates that stood in her way (Emily Sonnett looked like she got a pummeling). Chicago keeper, Alyssa Naeher, made several saves but couldn’t fully stop the Portland attack.
