After having a weather delayed for over 4 hours, Houston Dash and Kansas City Current tied 1-1 in Texas.

These two clubs are in different mindsets after only 7 matches in the season. KC Current came to Houston with the idea of getting a victory that will let them secure the first position of the standings. On the other hand, Houston, which has been one of the worst teams this season, was in desperate need of a victory. However, it was not an easy task for the Dash as they are trying to overcome missing several key players including not having Maria Sanchez, who was recently traded to San Diego Wave.

The match started just the way the visitors wanted. The Current created many chances to score, but it was finally at the ’24 minute when Temwa Chawinga score the first one of the day. After the goal, the visitors kept pushing to score more goals, but Dash Goalkeeper Jane Campbell had a great day saving her team many times.

For the second half was when everything started to change. Bad weather conditions in Houston impeded the second half from starting, leading to a delay of over 4 hours.

When players got the green light to return to the pitch to finish the match, Houston had a different approach. They were more aggressive and were looking for the equalizer. Their effort paid off at the ’71 when Amanda West scored the final 1-1 of the day.

Now, Houston will stay home to host Gotham FC whereas Kansas City will visit the Seattle Reign. Both matches are scheduled to be played on Wednesday, May 8.
