In a span of five minutes, the Chicago Red Stars destroyed the Dash defense as Samantha Kerr scored in the 8’ and 13’ to get clinch the victory for the Chi-Town team, which is now the best team in the NWSL. Former Red Star, Sofia Huerta, scored for the home team, but it wasn’t enough. This marked the second match lost at home this season.

The match was very entertaining for Houston fans, as both teams performed well, especially on offense. There were many dangerous plays that tested the goalkeepers, who were each superb on Sunday evening.

The Orange line-up presented many young players. As a matter of fact, there were two players who made their debut in the league. Kayla McCoy and Cece Kizer played their first professional career game. This was because many of the starters have already left to prepare for the Women’s World Cup with their national teams. The Dash were missing four players from the Canadian National Team as well as Rachael Daly, who was suspended for this match due to the red card she received last match.

On the other side, Chicago was missing some players as well. The most notable was goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher, however, Emily Boyd did a great job in taking her place. She was vital to her team as her saves aided their victory.

With this win Chicago has 11 points, which puts them at the top of the league, whereas the Houston Dash, with 10 points, dropped to number three.

Now, the Dash will travel to the Pacific Northwest to face the Reign while the Red Stars will face the Spirit in Chicago.
