Who: United States vs. Wales

When: November 21, 2022, 2 p.m. ET

Where: Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar

After missing out on the 2018 World Cup, the United States Men’s National Team has returned to the global stage for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The USMNT drew into Group B, where they will play Wales, England and Iran in the Group Stage matches between November 21-29.

USMNT Head Coach Greg Berhalter will make his first World Cup appearance in the manager’s box, having guided the USMNT through the qualifying stages since his appointment to the role in 2018. He will do so managing the second-youngest team in the tournament, with only Ghana having a lower average age.

Berhalter shook things up the day before the tournament kicked off, announcing that Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams, 23, would be the USMNT captain for the tournament. Adams, a native of Wappinger Falls, New York, captained the USMNT seven times during his 12 appearances in World Cup qualifying. The New York Red Bulls-homegrown midfielder will be the youngest USMNT captain at a World Cup since Harry Keough did so at 22 in 1950.

On the other side of the pitch, Wales will also be looking to make history.

Wales is making just its second World Cup appearance ever with the other appearance coming in 1958. Needing to win the six-team play-offs to qualify for the World Cup, Wales defeated Austria and then Ukraine in the final to send themselves to Qatar.

Leading Wales once again is soccer superstar Gareth Bale. Bale scored the match-winner for Wales in the play-off final to send them to the World Cup and was most recently seen scoring the 128th minute goal in MLS Cup that sent LAFC and Philadelphia Union to penalty kicks.

How to watch: English broadcast on Fox, Spanish broadcast on Telemundo.
