Considering the form in the last two World Cup appearances for Poland in 2002:
2002
And 2006:
2006
When Polish manager Adam Nawalka said before the World Cupwe want to “achieve the best result possible … but we do not intend to make any promises.”

Probably was his best call.

As here is Poland in 2018:
2018
However, would now expect Poland to beat Japan in the final game as Poland never shows up until they’re eliminated.

In 2002, Poland were outscored in the first two games 6-0 before beating the United States 3-1 in the final contest.

In 2006, Poland were outscored in the first two games 3-0 before beating Costa Rica 2-1 in that final contest.

In 2018, Poland have been outscored in the first two games 5-1 and will finally turn it on when it doesn’t matter against Japan.

Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku, and Cristiano Ronaldo have delivered on the goal charts for their countries.

Whereas the most action from Lewandowski so far came after the first loss to Senegal.

What Poland really lacked was one creative player out there in either game.

Poland relied on passing it sidewards and backwards and when that didn’t work they resorted to the long ball.

There were no 1-2’s, no dribbles, nothing, just hit and hope for the best.

Also, Poland doesn’t have the players currently to play a 3-4-3 system.

Everyone in the Polish midfield against Colombia was defensive minded.

Therefore not really a surprise Poland couldn’t achieve much offensively.

The yellow-clad majority crowd for the second contest could’ve been taken as a sign.

Most Polish fans knew what was to come.
