San Jose, CA- After seeing their side score five goals in injury time this year San Jose Earthquakes supporters probably thought that they had seen it all. While each of those goals was impressive in their own right nothing was like their sixth injury time goal. The reason being? None of those matches was for a playoff spot. With their season on the line Marco Urena gave the Quakes and the 18,000 in attendance at Avaya something to look forward to in the midweek. His goal in injury not only secured a 3-2 win for San Jose over Minnesota United FC but also punched their ticket into the 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs.

The Quakes goals would come courtesy of Urena (90+3′),Danny Hoesen (15′), and Chris Wondolowski (55′) while Minnesota would receive goals from Jerome Thiesson (36′) and Francisco Calvo (81′). With the win San Jose moves on to the MLS Cup Playoffs where they will the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place on Wednesday (10:30 PM EST/7:30 PM EST UniMas).

On hand to cover Sunday’s match was Prost writer Brian Taylor whose recap you can read here. Feel free to visit our San Jose Earthquakes 2017 photo gallery on SmugMug (Photos are courtesy of Lyndsay Radnedge and our friends at Center Line Soccer).
