Jorge Villafaña now has two full preseason games under his belt with Santos Laguna in Liga MX.

He started in games against Celaya FC and Correcaminos, both of Mexico’s Liga de Ascenso, and both 2-1 wins as Santos remains undefeated in its preparations for the 2016 Clausura.

“There’s always a process to adapt,” Villafaña said via a club release.  “You try to do it as quickly as possible to mesh with the group and this group has time together; they already have their dynamics, and they know one another, so what I’m doing is getting to know them and give my maximum effort.”

And he made his goals very clear.

“I want to contribute to the group, personally play and get minutes, achieve great things, get to the playoffs, and win a championship,” he said.

Villafaña enjoyed playing in front of a large group of his visiting family on Wednesday afternoon in the friendly against Correcaminos and will travel to Monterrey on Friday, for Santos’ last preseason game against Liga MX team and North Mexico rival Monterrey on Jan. 2. The first game of the season will take place on Jan. 9 in Leon before returning home to host Chiapas FC; in both of those he’ll play against Americans Miguel Ibarra and Gabriel Farfán, respectively.
