Portland Timbers at a glance

Last season the Caps had the Portland Timbers number, by sweeping both matches in their always celebrated Cascadia Derby.

This denied the Rose City squad of the Cascadia trophy in the end.

However for both Cascadia squads coming from a rough start and now looking like these are starting to roll on their respective season.

Still one team is making all sorts of headlines in league play and these are the Portland Timbers, winning in their last three outings.

As we currently speak of the Rose City streak that highlights their defensive game stepping up as well its offensive attack that makes it outstanding in its teamwork displayed lately.

For the Timbers manager praising his team collective efforts in its unity, mature-ness and overall discipline in the field, is somehow a recipe for their current success.

Still for the Rose City squad so far these are playing one amazing game of football!

Going to one venue considered a challenge for them and play another squad staging a revival in these battling Caps the positive streak the Portland Timbers are displaying is in  peril.

Giovanni Savarese showing off his trademark moves, the man found his ideal eleven and with a new 4-4-2 formation, suddenly working wonders and maybe in Vancouver can deliver.

With another move in his defensive game in Steve Clark that has delivered in both of his performances and the veteran of many battles will continue to escalate in his game.

GK Steve Clark, Jorge Moreira, Larrys Mabiala, Bill Tuiloma, Zarek Valentin; Andres Flores, Cristhian Paredes, Diego Chara, Sebastian Blanco; Diego Valeri, Jeremy Ebobisse

Vancouver Whitecaps at a glance

For first year manager Marc Dos Santos at the helm of the Caps it has not been easy.

In his first year and with a slow start, the Caps back in April they stopped their odd streak with an scandalous win over a hardened LAFC at home.

Still they have managed to net three important draws as well two wins, one recently against the Colorado Rapids at Dicks Sporting Goods Park in Colorado in a very contested match.

As manager Dos Santos this match will be is first ever Cascadia Derby as well playing again against Giovanni Savarese whom he defeated in that NASL Soccer Bowl final back in 2017.

So far his trademark 4-3-3 formation is starting to deliver the game he has envisioned for this Cascadia squad an looking forward to bring a number of trophies as well glories.

GK Maxime Crepeau, Jakob Nerwinski, Erik Godoy, Doneil Henry, Ali Adnan; Hwang In- Beom, Jon Erice, Russell Teibert; Lucas Venuto, Freddy Montero, Lass

The Portland Timbers the favorites in this match for its current streak but playing in BC Place this match can become a challenge as the Caps are one tough client at home.
