Portland Timbers Briefly

What a one-of-a-kind performance against Colorado by performing an amazing match in its entirety and seeing Jaroslaw Niezgoda deliver with a brace!

Come that way, the Timbers delivered a memorable match with a healthy squad that suddenly played a mammoth game defending and neutralizing the likes of Gyasi Zardes and Diego Rubio.

In addition to the offensive attack getting a boost with Sebastian Blanco, Yimmi Chara, and Santiago Moreno; all the midfielders doing a grand job and helping Niezgoda work his way to scoring a couple of goals.

Despite losing Cristhian Paredes to an apparent leg injury, the move from Gio of substituting him with Eryk Williamson became providential as Williamson is a top-rated player for the team and known to step his game, silencing in the midfield the likes of Colorado, and being the game hero with an assist to Niezgodas’ second goal.

With a midweek game on the schedule, the question arises if the Timbers can continue to roll and dominate at home against the Dynamo motivated by its recent win over a slumping Chicago Fire.

The team is looking forward to moving up in the standings and being within reach of the red line of the Western Conference. Still, the season is far from over, and hopefully, injuries don’t stunt this team’s momentum.

For now, seeing Felipe Mora back in the twenty and other players making a stand and maybe they can score  consecutive wins over a tough and renovated Houston Dynamo.

Probable Lineup:

GK Aljaz Ivacic, Josecarlos Van Rankin, Bill Tuiloma, Dario Zuparic, Cluadio Bravo; Diego Chara, Eryk Williamson; Santiago Moreno, Yimmi Chara, Sebastian Blanco; Jaroslaw Niezgoda

Houston Dynamo Briefly

Manager Paulo Nagamura continues his work of rebuilding the Houston Dynamo and looking forward to seeing the Orange Crush return to its winning ways and become a tough foe.

Coming to Providence Park, the Dynamo is coming from a big win against a slumping Chicago Fire and they are looking forward to continuing its winning streak and trying to move up the Western Conference table above the red line.

So far, Nagamura’s job continues in implementing a winning culture in the Big H and sees his team return into the postseason as well as fight for a third MLS Supporters’ Shield and a couple of runner-ups finals.

The question is if Paulo Nagamura can see a return of this team to its best game. Against the Portland Timbers, this match will be considered a tough outing for them as the Rose City side comes from a huge win on Saturday.

Still, the debut of former Porto and Atletico Madrid midfielder Mexican International Hector Herrera won’t be until July 9th for the Texas Derby–a break for the Timbers on their meeting against the Orange Crush!

Probable Lineup:

GK Steve Clark, Jose Cracco, Daniel Steres, Tenage Hadebe, Adam Lundkvist; Matias Vera, Darwin Ceren; Memo Rodriguez, Darwin Quintero, Thorleifur Ulfarsson; Sebastian Ferreira
