Portland Thorns Fall to Houston Dash 3-2

The Houston Dash prevailed in a hard fought match at Providence Park, home of the Portland Thorns in Portland Oregon. A match still marked by the Paul Riley scandal, with home fans boicot of stadium concessions, and showing their discontent in banners and signs while still making their support for the team loud and as colorful as always.

The match, got away from the local side early with, two goals within 5 minutes from Rachel Daly from the penalty spot in minute 18 and Kristie Mewis in 23. Portland would narrow the advantage in minute 30, with a goal by Christine Sinclair, and with the 2-1 for the visitors, the first half would end.

The second half started with the Portland Thorns pressuring, and forward Sophia Smith would put the temporary 2-2 tie. The Thorns forward, beat the last defender and the keeper after an assists from Lindsey Horan. From then, Dash did not settled for the tie, and tried to counter punch a Portland Thorns decided to keep the three points at home. Houston would get he prize with a header from Rachel Daly in minute 79, settling the final 3-2 win, and the three points headed back to Houston with the Dash.
