Montreal came into BC Place and defeated the Whitecaps, 4-2, to keep their Canadian Championship hopes alive while the Whitecaps remain rooted to the bottom of the Western Conference. Theo Bair opened the scoring for the Whitecaps after the seventh minute, but then the Impact scored four unanswered goals to pull away before Rudy Camacho scored an own goal.

Both teams ended up with ten men. Lucas Cavallini was sent off in the 57th minute after an altercation with Luis Binks while Emanuel Maciel was sent off for a harsh tackle fifteen minutes later.
