Vancouver Whitecaps 1-3 LA Galaxy

VANCOUVER, BC–Looks like LA Galaxy are back. They vaulted to the top of the Western Conference after a 3-1 win over Vancouver at BC Place. The key was two goals in three minutes shortly after Vancouver had equalized.

Galaxy initially went ahead in the 56th minute after Dejan Jovelic put in a rebound after Gabriel Pec’s initial shot was saved by Yohei Takaoka.

Brian White headed in a corner in the 77th minute to pull the Whitecaps level. However, Galaxy would strike twice in three minutes to come away with three points. Riqui Puig sent a dime of a pass to Joseph Paintsil who made no mistake from close range in the 80th minute. Two minutes later, it was another Puig to Paintsil connection. This time, there would be a low cross to substitute Diego Fagundez who scored from eight yards out.

The Whitecaps end this four-match homestand at 2-2-0 and travel to their Cascadia Cup rivals, Seattle Sounders, next Saturday. Kickoff is at 7:30pm Pacific time on Apple TV as part of the MLS Season Pass.
