FRISCO, TX–FC Dallas continues to solidify its hopes of a home playoff game with a 2-1 win over LAFC at Toyota Stadium on Saturday night. The win puts the Red Hoops to with two points of second-place Austin who lost at Seattle, 2-1. For LAFC, the team who seemingly were coasting to the Supporters’ Shield has now lost their fourth match in their last five and are now three points adrift of Philadelphia for top spot in the league.

Things started inauspiciously for the LAFC in the eighth minute. Ryan Hollingshead was initially booked for taking down Paul Arriola just outside the box, but VAR later determined that was a denial of a clear goal scoring opportunity and changed the color of the card to red and the Black and Gold were a man down. Yet in the fourth minute of first half stoppage time, LAFC were a goal ahead after Chicho Arango chipped keeper Maarten Paes.

But once again, it was the Jesus Ferreira show. Ferreira would equalize in the 78th minute thanks to a quick restart from Paul Arriola that caught LAFC off guard and then off a free kick from an acute angle three minutes later. The goal ties a single-season record in club history with 18.
