Portland Timbers Briefly

Giovanni Savarese is one happy man. After all, his team is playing one amazing game of football lately.

Still, with eight matches left in the regular season, the need to obtain positive results is a must for the hot and streaking Portland Timbers. Savarese is looking forward to seeing a continuance of his team’s amazing performance as they head towards the upcoming postseason.

However, every game is seen as a tough challenge, and going to Carson, California to play the Galaxy who are struggling, the challenge will be immense for the Timbers.

We might see some absences in the starting eleven with three players recently called up for international duty with their national teams, especially their red-hot striker Felipe Mora.

Ready or not, the Portland Timbers are ready to roll and maybe get a better result over the Galaxy and avenge that humiliating 4-1 loss back in July. With a little luck maybe the Portland Boys return the favor back to the Galaxy this coming Saturday.

Probable Lineup:

GK Steve Clark, Josecarlos Van Rankin, Larrys Mabiala, Dario Zuparic, Claudio Bravo; Diego Chara, George Fochive; Yimmi Chara, Sebastian Blanco, Dairon Aspirilla; Jaroslaw Niezgoda

LA Galaxy Briefly

Back-to-back losses against Austin and Real Salt Lake before the international break has first-year manager Greg Vanney concerned for his team’s remaining matches.

With nine players out for international duty with their national teams, the question is upon the air for manager Vanney looking to put on the field a tough starting eleven. This is of course if they would like to suppress the Timbers’ positive momentum.

The need to get back in the positive is a must for the so-called American Galacticos, who currently are in sixth place. The need to win their remaining matches is a must as well as the need to withstand the pressure from the teams below the postseason line and looking forward to a notable finish in the overall table to culminate a challenging season.

Probable Lineup:

GK Jonathan Bond, Julian Araujo, Sega Coulibaly, Nick De Puy, Niko Hamalainen; Jonathan Dos Santos, Rayan Raveloson; Efrain Alvarez, Sebastien Llegett, Samuel Grandsir; Chicharito Hernandez
