Seattle Sounders FC vaulted to the top of the Western Conference with a 3-1 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps. All goals came in a span of 19 minutes with Joao Paulo and Raul Ruidiaz sandwiching an Erik Godoy own goal for the Sounders. Fredy Montero converted from the spot in the 65th minute for the Whitecaps who finished with ten men after Janio Bikel was sent off three minutes later. The Sounders’ Yeimar was originally sent off as well, but VAR reduced the punishment to a yellow.
