Inter Miami lost its first ever game on Saturday, falling just short against Eastern Conference rivals Philadelphia Union.

Diego Alonso’s men looked set for a draw, heading into the final moments level at 1-1, but Matej Oravec’s stunning strike from distance with just three minutes remaining saw them defeated in their inaugural outing.

New signing Rodolfo Pizarro – who still hasn’t been announced by the club with paperwork still to be approved- played and scored in the friendly at Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg.

The designated player, signed from Monterrey, displayed fine footwork inside the area before finishing from close range,

Inter produced a battling display but came up just short with Joel Robles unable to keep Oravec’s shot at bay, despite getting a glove on the ball.

“These were our first full 90 minutes and I think the team performed well, endured the 90 minutes as we expected it,” said Head Coach Diego Alonso.
