Inter Miami Continues Form with Win over Atlanta

Inter Miami continued their fine form with a comeback win over Atlanta United. It was Leonardo Campana again starring for Miami as the Ecuadorian striker finished with a goal and a assist. This is now Inter Miami’s fourth straight victory in a row in all competitions, which is now a club record.

It was Atlanta who started as the stronger side in the early stages, multiple times threatening Miami goalie Nick Marsman. That opening goal for Atlanta would come though as Ronaldo Cisneros would pounce on the bouncing ball in the box from the corner kick, giving them the one goal lead in the 13th minute.

Just 15 minutes later it would be Leonardo Campana who would draw his Inter Miami side level in the game. The goal starting from the right side of the pitch as Deandre Yedlin and Ariel Lassiter would combine for a nifty one-two that lead to Lassiter putting in the cross. Campana would do ever so well to take the ball down and turn his defender, firing a low hard shot towards the bottom right of the goal that found the back of the net.  The goal being his fifth of not only the MLS season but the fifth in his last 4 games.

The game would go to halftime all tied up but it did not take long for Inter Miami to find themselves in the driver seat, Bryce Duke would spark the counter-attack stemming from a giveaway from the Atlanta midfield. Duke would play the initial pass to Lassiter who would find Campana all alone on the left side of the box. The Striker would unselfishly find the man who started the entire attack in Bryce Duke, the young midfielder still had a lot to do being 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper but was able to convert his shot. The goal would be Duke’s first ever in the MLS and be enough for Miami to earn the three points.

Atlanta United continue their MLS slump, now three straight without a win. Their last coming on April 2nd over D.C United. With this loss they fall to 4th in the Eastern standings. They will have a chance to get their season back on track when they will travel north of the border to face the Montreal Impact on April 30th at 4:00pm.

For Inter Miami, they have done a full 180 from their form in the beginning of the season. With the win they now move into 9th in the East. Only two places of the playoffs, purely out due to goal difference at the moment. They will look to continue their red hot form as they will visit the New England Revolution on April 30th at 7:30pm
