It’s time for soccer in Texas as the Houston Dash get ready to kick off a new NWSL season this Saturday at BBVA Compass Stadium. In the home opener the Dash will host the Chicago Red Stars. This is the third season for the Dash, coached by Randy Waldrum, whose goal for the upcoming season is to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.

This is a possibility according to Waldrum because, “the team has a mix of young talented players with the experience provided by players such as Carli Lloyd”. Remember, Lloyd was named FIFA best player of the year 2015. In addition to Lloyd, for the 2016 season the Dash have seven international players who will be participating in the Olympic Games this upcoming summer. This level of skill is why the Houstonians’ coach thinks everything is set for this team to make history.

During an event this last Thursday where the Dash unveiled their new home and away kits, the team talked about their opening match. Carli Lloyd told reporters that she “is very happy and anxious to be on the pitch on Saturday” adding that she believes the atmosphere at BBVA Compass Stadium will be great.

Come out this Saturday to find out. Kick-off is at 7:30pm.
