The Houston Dash lost for the second time in the season against The Pride after a late goal by Orlando. This was the third loss for Houston in the 2016 season.

The Dash showed a versatile and aggressive game, but it was not enough. Even though the Dash wingers used their speed on the sides to create some danger in the Pride’s box, they were not able to find the net. On the other side, Orlando did not have many chances to score in the match. For much of the game the Florida team was dependent on what Alex Morgan could create on offense. However, in the 81st minute, the visiting team scored the first and only goal of the match. Kristen Edmonds struck the ball outside the box to beat the goalkeeper, and give the three points to Orlando with her first professional goal. Edmonds was called “the biggest surprise of the players he acquired” by Orlando coach Tom Sermanni.

The Dash continue to miss their super star Carli Lloyd. She remains out due to an injury suffered in the fourth minute while playing Orlando a few weeks ago. Even though she was on the sidelines using a device on her leg to recover from the Sprained MCL in her right knee, not word has been said about when she will come back for the Dash.

With the loss, Houston continues to be on the bottom half of the standing with seven points. Orlando on the other hand is in a playoff spot for now, with twelve points. The Dash will come back to BBVA Compass Stadium next Friday when they face The Washington Spirit. The Pride will be playing away for a second week in a road, facing current champions FC Kansas City next Saturday.
