Vancouver Whitecaps 0-Los Angeles Galaxy 2

After a long, tough 2018 campaign Los Angeles Galaxy supporters were looking for one thing at the start of 2019: Hope. They seemed to have found it. On Friday night at BC Place in Vancouver the Galaxy continued their early run of positive results, defeating the Whitecaps 2-0.

Daniel Steres (63′) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (71′) supplied the goals for the Galaxy. They survived a very huge scare in just the first minute of the match after Lass Bangoura was pulled down in LA’s penalty box. Vancouver forward Ali Adnan attempted a panenka with a very soft touch, proving to be little of a challenge for goalkeeper David Bingham. Bingham made five saves to earning his first clean sheet of the season.

With the win LA earn their third consecutive victory (4-1-0, 12 points) a strong start after a very difficult 2018 campaign. They will hope to continue their winning ways next Saturday when they host the Philadelphia Union (10:30 PM EST/7:30PM PST, ESPN +). As for Vancouver they still have yet to earn their first win of the season and the challenge doesn’t get any easier as LAFC come to town next Sunday (10pm EST/7pm PST, ESPN+).
