San Jose Earthquakes 4-FC Dallas 3

For the second time in a month the San Jose Earthquakes had FC Dallas’ number. On Wednesday night at Avaya Stadium the Quakes once again shocked Major League Soccer with a 4-3 win over the Western Conference leaders.

The Earthquakes goals were scored by Vako (15′ and 42′), Magnus Eriksson (54′), and Chris Wondolowski (62′). Their four goals was the most that they have scored in the 2018 season. Dallas’ goals were scored Maxi Urruti (8′), Santiago Mosquera (51′), and Dom Badji (58′).

With the win the Earthquakes (4-14-8, 20 points) move to within four points of the Colorado Rapids (6-14-6, 24 points) and avoiding the dreaded wooden spoon. They head north of the border on Saturday to take on the Vancouver Whitecaps (9/1 TSN 10PM EST/7PM EST).

As for FC Dallas (13-6-7, 46 points) despite the loss they are still in first place in the Western Conference. But it is the second consecutive match in which they have dropped points, having drawn 1-1 with the Houston Dynamo last week. Entering the final stretch run of the season Dallas are just one point ahead of Sporting Kansas City (13-6-6, 45 points) with SKC holding a game in hand. Dallas host the Dynamo on Saturday in the latest edition of the Texas Derby.
