Chicago Fire 1-New York Red Bulls 0

Own goal strikes again! On Saturday afternoon at SeatGeek Stadium the fearsome striker once again proved to be the difference, this time lifting the Chicago Fire over the New York Red Bulls.

In truth, the goal itself was largely the work of Nemanja Nikolic whose over the head flick went off of the post in the 47th minute. Red Bulls defender Tim Parker was there to clear it off the line but the ball took a bad bounce off the post and it hit him square into the chest and over the line. The Red Bulls didn’t really put much of an effort into finding an equalizer, getting only one shot on target. That chance a shot from distance by Bradley Wright-Phillips, was easily saved by goalkeeper David Ousted.
