Dynamos beats Minnesota United 3-0 in their first home win of 2020.

The Houston Dynamo hosted Minnesota United to try to keep the good momentum after the spectacular win against Sporting KC. On the other hand, the Looms came to Houston to finish their Texas road trip and to try to bounce back after loosing 3-1 against FC Dallas in Frisco during the weekend.

The staring eleven that Dynamo coach Tab Ramos sent was the same as last match’s, except for Niko Hansen, who started against the Looms instead of Honduras international Albert Elis.

The first forty-five were a battle at midfield from the starting whistle. Both teams try to own the possession of the ball and with this control the rhythm of the match. And even though the Minnesota team had two solid lines in defense and midfield, they were not able to control the possession of the ball thanks to Houston’s Matias Vera, who is in a great form, as well as Darwin Ceren, who were the ones in charge of giving the equilibrium Houston. Equilibrium needed by the home team to impose their game and gave them better chance to earn the three points at home.

Houston was the better team in the first half, creating more chances to score. Memo Rodriguez, Hansen and former Loom, Christian Ramirez were close to score the much-deserved goal for the Dynamo. It was until the 28th minute that Darwin Quintero was able to beat Minnesota’s goalkeeper Greg Ranjitsingh for the partial 1-0 at the half.

The second half, Minnesota looked tired and were not able to respond to the constant attacks from the home team. Two key substitutions came in for Houston as Alberth Elis and new Dynamo player Ariel Lassiter came in for Hansen and Ramirez, respectively.

The fresh legs from both of the Centralamericans came in big as Elis crossed was finish for Lassiter to double the lead at the 65’. Only five minutes later Lassiter scored his second of the night for the final 3-0 and with this, having the perfect debut Houston fans were hoping for from the Costa Rican international.

With the win, Houston gets 10 points and start preparing to host SKC on Saturday, September 5th. at BBVA Stadium. On the other hand, the Looms finish their trip south with two loses and many things to work on before they host Real Salt Lake on Sunday, September 6th.
