Ottawa, ON – Ottawa Fury FC lost at home and the MLS Champion goes with a win in the second leg of the Canadian Championship semi-final next week at BMO Field.

Both teams had an equal amount of ball possession, a fault on a TFC player by Steven Dos Santos early on in the match demonstrates the pressure of the match. It is Jonathan Osorio, captain for this Canadian competition, who scores at minute 5′ and which would ultimately be the sole goal of the encounter.

A couple of altercations on the field and some referee decisions provided a hot ingredient to this Canadian Championship.

Everything looks like the Vanney Boys will repeat this year what they accomplished in 2017 for this tournament, but we have to wait until next week for the second leg.  The Reds have a compromise with Chicago Fire this weekend in the United States, after that, the Head Coach, will decide who will appear as the starting eleven at BMO Field on the final part of this battle between the Ontario warriors.

It is to note, that the second half of this match was tainted by an some important disruption from the spectators.  Fireworks were launched on the field from TFC supporters, which led to a small fire on the field, that was extinguished quite rapidly and efficiently by the Stadium security and staff.  The most concerning was the banners that the supporters were holding also caught fire in the stands.  Once again, it was controlled efficiently and luckily no injuries were reported at this point in time.  An proper investigation will be conducted on the matter.  Coach Vanney offered his sincere apologies at the end-of-match press conference, on behalf of himself, the players and the club for the unfortunate incident.
