Houston Dynamo 2-D.C. United 1

Jose ‘Memo’ Rodriguez and Tommy McNamara scored at the 67’ and 68’ respectively to keep the home unbeaten record alive for the Houston Dynamo. They defeated DC United 2-1 despite Wayne Rooney scoring for DC at the 46’ after finishing a great play by Ulises Segura.

The Dynamo came to this match after tying 1-1 against Portland during a midweek clash. The Orange were obligated to get the win to remain in the top positions of the West. And even though this was a difficult match for the home team since they were missing Honduras international Maynor Figueroa, who is taking some time off to be with his family after the passing of his father, they were able to finish a couple of the offensive plays they created to get three important points at home. Another player that was not part of the available Houston roster for the match was Damarcus Beasley. He was out due to a coaching decision, but his absence was well covered by Adam Lundkvist.

On the other hand, DC United came to this match as the best team in the East, with a terrific attacking led by England Superstar Wayne Rooney and Luciano Acosta. These two players created the most dangerous playing for the nation’s capital team. Also, goalkeeper Bill Hamid was crucial to keep his side close in the match.

The match was very entertaining as both teams could get the victory. However, efficiency in offense was the key for the Dynamo getting the three points.

Now the Dynamo will visit Minnesota United whereas DC United will play in the road again, but this time against the New England Revolution.
