Houston Dynamo 2- Colorado Rapids 0

Two first-half goals were enough for Houston who dominated the match from start to finish on Saturday night. The Dynamo has been one of the team that since last season they have been one of the best at playing at home. The Orange came to this match after losing their two last matches, which were played away. Therefore, the win gets the team three important points to keep fighting for a playoff spot in the West Conference.

Houston midfielder Tomas Martinez scored the first home for the home team at the 30’. After a great play inside the box, his shot was blocked by Colorado goalkeeper Tim Howard, but the reflection came right to Martinez who scored his fourth goal of the season.

The Dynamo doubled their lead six minutes later when Mauro Manotas scored the 2-0 via penalty kick.

The second half was very similar than the first one. Houston was attacking special using the speed and dynamism in the sides. Albert Elis continues to be one of the most dominant and dangerous players in the league. And even though the team created many chances to score more goals, the Colorado defense was solid. Of course, Tim Howard was a key factor for his team. If it would not be for his saves, the visitors would probably allow two or three more goals.

Another key factor in the match was the ejection of Colorado striker Yannick Boli right at the end of the first half. This forced the Rapids to concentrate in defense and stop thinking about his offense in the second half.

With the win, the Houston Dynamo is now in seventh place in the conference with 21 points. On the other hand, the Colorado Rapids, which will host the Chicago Fire in their next match, remains in last place with only eight points.
