Houston Dynamo 0-Tigres 2

The Liga MX team dominated the match and got a comfortable lead to go home and face the second match against an MLS squad which will have a difficult task to overcome in Monterrey.

In a cold night in Houston where Tigres fans showed up and outnumbered Dynamo fans the home team never found its game, especially in the midfield. The main reason for that was because they had two key players out for the match. Argentine Tomas Martinez and Colombian Juan David Cabezas were ruled out of the game due to injuries. Also, Darwin Ceren who is a regular for the Orange, was out due to an illness.

Tigres took advantage of the short-handed Dynamo with the deep roster coach ‘Tuca’ Ferreti has in his possession. UANL came to the Space City and played with authority showing why they are considered the main contender to win this edition of the CONCACAF Champions League.

Houston created some chances to open the score, but Tigres was just a better team from the starting whistle. Houston defense was contending the powerful Mexican offense led by Enner Valencia and Eduardo Vargas, but they were not able to get the clean sheet as in the 78th minute Valencia opened the scored for the away team.

Only three minutes later, Julian Quiñones double the lead for the Liga MX team and with that taking back home a great advantage to seal their pass to the semifinals in Monterrey next week.

The Dynamo now has  a very difficult task since they need to win 2-0 in Mexico to send the match to PKs or winning by two if Tigres scores. Something it seems very complicated for coach Wilmer Cabrera and his squad since the team is struggling on offense.

So, everything will be decided next week in the Estadio Universitario in Mexico where we will have another clash between the MLS and Liga MX sides.
