The Philadelphia Union’s schedule has been brutal, and the resulting player fatigue has been obvious. Last Wednesday evening, the Union played Inter Miami CF.  Given that Miami was then in 13th place in the MLS East, Philadelphia was  in 3rd place, and that the match’s locale was the Union’s home turf all served to predict a Philadelphia win.  Coach Jim Curtin changed the usual starting lineup since Jose Martinez was unavailable due to yellow card accumulation and Julián Carranza was ineligible to play against the team from which he was on loan.  The Philadelphia starting XI included defender Stuart Findlay, who definitely deserved the start after his goal in the Orlando game.

Wednesday’s game often dragged, and by the end, the players seemed to hope for the final whistle.  In the end, there was no score and Philadelphia walked away with one point and its fifth consecutive draw.

Photographs of the match appear below:

Miami’s Leonardo Campana is followed closely by Philadelphia’s Stuart Findlay.

Philadelphia’s Leon Flach cuts between Miami’s Indiana Vassilev and the ball, but Flach still was called for a foul.

Philadelphia’s Sergio Santos somehow made it through Miami’s defense and is looking to score.

Philadelphia’s Alejandro Bedoya eyeing the ball, while Miami’s Christopher McVey watches on.

Miami’s Damion Lowe catches Philadelphia’s Cory Burke off balance, as he intercepts the pass.

Philadelphia’s Jakob Glesnes brings up the ball, with Emerson Rodríguez and Gonzalo Higuaín on defense.
