Vancouver Whitecaps 1-2 Real Salt Lake

VANCOUVER, BC–Two goals in a span of six minutes led Real Salt Lake to come from behind to defeat Vancouver Whitecaps, 2-1, at BC Place. Vancouver took the lead in the 33rd minute on a beautifully-worked team goal finished off by Damir Kreilach. If the first half saw Vancouver getting most of the scoring chances, the second half was the opposite.

Yohei Takaoka was forced into a couple saves within the first ten minutes of the half and Fidel Barajas would strike one off the crossbar in the 56th minute. RSL would hit pay dirt in the 70th minute as Barajas found Anderson Julio who would score from six yards out to bring the visitors to terms. Six minutes later, Barajas would get another assist as Alexandros Katranis would chip it first time over Takaoka who was off his line and into the net.

RSL and Vancouver are two of six teams now at seven points in this young season with the Whitecaps ahead based on wins and goal difference. Both teams have home games next Saturday with RSL hosting St. Louis (8:30pm MT) and the Whitecaps hosting Portland (9:30pm PT).
