Gustavo Bou, 33, is set to join his 9th professional club since his career debut in 2008. The forward began his career with River Plate (2008-2014) where he was sent on multiple loans to Club Olimpio (2012-2013), Ecuadorian side LDU Quito (2013-2014) and Club de Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata (2014). Following his time with River Plate, Gustavo joined Argentinian side Racing Club de Avellaneda (2014-2017). After his time with Racing, Bou left Argentina for Mexico to play for Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente Ahas (2017-2019). During his tenure in Mexico, he went on one loan, where he returned to Racing Club de Avellaneda (2018). Following his time in Mexico, Gustavo joined the New England Revolution (2019-2023). After he ran out of contract on December 31st, 2023, Bou was a free agent, and was gaining lots of attention from clubs in the United States, Mexico, Argentina, and some across Europe.

Sources have since confirmed that Bou will sign for Club Atlético Talleres of Argentina.

Argentinian journalist César Luis Merlo first reported that Club Atletico Talleres was in advanced negotiations with Bou.

The deal is a 2-year contract, which I’m told, has been verbally agreed by both parties. All that is awaiting is Bou’s signature and passing of a medical.

He is set to travel to Argentina this weekend and plans to meet with club associates the following week.

Looking ahead for Talleres, Bou is coming off one of the best tenures of his career.

For the New England Revolution, Bou appeared in 115 matches (98 starts) for New England across 5 seasons where he provided 51 goals, 20 assist, and 8 yellow cards.

Individually with New England, Bou was a 2021 MLS All-Star, a member of the 2021 MLS BEST XI, and won the 2021 Supporters Shield.

During his time with the club, they made 4 playoff appearances. (2019 First Round, 2020 Conference Finals, 2021 Conference Semifinals, & 2023 First Round).

In December of 2023, The Rebellion, a supporter group of the New England Revolution hosted a “going-away event” and provided Bou with a “Club Legend Award” for his contributions for the club.

The plaque read, “A Legend marks their legacy not only by their performance on the field, but by the relationships they build with the club and it’s fans. Thank You for all the goals scored and memories created that will live on in Revolution history. Siempre Seras Nuestro Idolo.”.

Bou finished his time in New England as 5th all-time in scoring. In close to 100 less games played, he trails only Teal Bunbury (53), Diego Fagundez (54), Lee Nguyen (55), and Taylor Twellman (112).

Caleb Porter and the New England Revolution have begun preseason and have traveled to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida to prepare for their 2024 campaign. Their next preseason matches are scheduled versus FC Cincinnati (Thu, Feb. 1), Orlando City SC (Sat, Feb. 10), and the Philadelphia Union (Wed, Feb. 14), and FC Cincinnati (Thu, Feb. 15).
