Revolution reportedly interested in Alberth Elis, had $1.6 million bid rejected

FOXBOROUGH, MA– The New England Revolution have reportedly expressed interest in signing Honduras winger Alberth Elis.

He would occupy a senior roster slot.

He currently plays for Ligue 1 club Stade Brestois 29 on loan from Liege 2 club Football Club des Girondins de Bordeaux.

Alberth Elis is a 27-year-old, 6’1, 170lb winger from San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

At a career glance, Alberth Elis has played 238 career games (16,214 minutes) across Honduras, Mexico, Portugal, France, and the United States. Elis began his career with Club Deportivo Olimpia (2013-2016) before moving on to Mexican club C.F. Monterrey (2016-2017). During his time with Monterrey, he joined the Houston Dynamo (2017-2020) on loan in 2017, before joining the club on a full-term basis in 2018. Following his tenure with the Dynamo, Elis moved to Portugal for Boavista Football Club (2020-2022). During this time, he was sent on loan in 2021 to Football Club des Girondins de Bordeaux (2022-present), but signed permanently with them in after the 2022. He currently is on loan with Stade Brestois 29 (2023).

Internationally, Elis has made 60 appearances for the Honduras Men’s National Team.

In career numbers, the winger has contributed 77 career goals, 38 assists, along with 37 yellow cards and 5 red cards.

In career honors, Elis has won the Liga Nacional de futbol Professional title with Olimpia in 2014. Along with that title, Elis also won the 2015 President’s Cup, and is a 3x Clasura Champion (2014-16). He won the U.S. Open Cup with Houston Dynamo in 2018. Internationally, he won the 3rd place medal with Honduras in the 2021 Concacaf Nations League.

According to French journalist Emery Tainse, The New England Revolution reportedly bid $1,600,000 (€1,470,000) for Alberth Elis.

Elis, 27, is under contract until 2026 for Football Club des Girondins de Bordeaux. The club has valued Elis at $3,809,000 (€ 3,500,000). It is reported that Elis is also receiving interest from Los Angeles Galaxy and select clubs from Mexico.

Caleb Porter and the New England Revolution have begun preseason and have traveled to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida to prepare for their 2024 campaign.
