In a great display of dominance, the Houston Dynamo had an impressive victory over the Portland Timbers. The Orange scored four goals in the first half, in addition to one on the second half, for a 5-0 result. The match showcased the Dynamo’s exceptional season they are having at home this 2023.

They outplayed their opponents in every aspect of the game from the starting whistle. With precision passing, a dynamic attack, and solid defense, the Dynamo managed to secure an early lead and maintain their momentum throughout the match.

The first goal for the home team came in at the 5th minute when Amine Basi converted a PK after Griffin Dorsey was fouled inside the box. The second of the match was scored only six minutes after when Nelson Quinonez found the ball inside the box and beat Portland’s goalkeeper Aljaz Ivacic to make it 2-0.

Only three minutes later, at the 14th minute, Dynamo secured their victory when Corey Baird dribbled around the visitors’ goalie to make it 3-0. Just before the halftime mark, Franco Escobar scored the 4-0 after a great play in the right side of the pitch.

Portland did not show any reaction throughout the match. The three goals they conceded in the first fourteen minutes of the match left the Timbers out of the match.

The second half was just a relaxed one for the home side. They created some opportunities in offense and sure enough, they scored a fifth goal at the 62nd minute when Brad Smith, who came in from the bench a minute after, found a one-on-one opportunity against Portland’s goalkeeper and scored the final of the night.

This win came in in a crucial moment for the Dynamo as they are preparing to host the US Open Cup semifinal against Real Salt Lake on Wednesday at Shell Energy Stadium. On the other side, Timbers will face Vancouver Whitecaps next weekend in the Rose City.
