Fireworks in El Clasico; Barcelona beats Real Madrid 3-0

In a great and historic match in Dallas, Texas between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, ‘the Cules’ emerged as the winners of a new edition of El Clasico with a resounding 3-0 win. The match, which took place at AT&T Stadium on Saturday night, showcased Barcelona’s attacking prowess and tactical brilliance.

From the starting whistle, Barcelona displayed their attacking mindset, keeping Real Madrid’s defense under constant pressure.

Frenkie de Jong along with Pedri and new Blaugrana addition, Gundogan controlled the midfield for Barcelona. On their front attack, Robet Lewandowski as well as Ousmane Dembele, who might play his last match for the Barca side, created many scoring opportunities for their side.

Real Madrid on the other side, had many chances to score. ‘Los Blancos’ pressured Barca from their own third and for some periods of time, they controlled the possession of the ball. New Madrid player Jude Bellingham, in addition to Federico Valverde and Rodrygo challenge ‘the Blaugranas’ to recover the ball and try to find the goal that never came. Madrid’s efforts were not as precise as they needed to be.  Throughout the match, they had 6 shots that hit the crossbar including a penalty kick missed by Vinicius Jr.

Barcelona found the opener in the 15th minute when Dembele found the ball inside the box for the 1-0. After the goal, the match remained the same. Both teams were fighting for the win and the match turned into a very intense one. More than 82,000 fans attended the venue in Dallas, which was a soccer record for that stadium, enjoyed an exceptional soccer show despite what side they were supporting.

As the match approached its final minutes, Real Madrid attempted to get an equalizer, but Barca’s goalkeeper Andre Ter Stegen had a phenomenal game keeping another clean sheet against ‘Los Merengues’.

Both teams started making many substitutions, which happens normally during friendly matches, at the 75th minute. One player who took advantage of getting some playing minutes was Barcelona’s youngster Fermin Lopez.  He sealed the victory with a clinical finish past the Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois at the 85’.

The final goal of the night came in at stoppage time when Fermin passes the ball over to Ferran Torres who found the back of the net at the 91’.

Despite being a great win for ‘Los Cules’, team’s coach Xavi mentioned in the press conference that he saw many mistakes committed by his team. Especially in defense. In addition, he mentioned his desire to sign a couple more players to increase the quality of his roster. He mentioned that with the current squad, the team will not be able to compete at the highest level possible. However, it is clear that after the win, FC Barcelona, which is the current La Liga champion, beat Real Madrid again to boost their confidence for the upcoming regular season.

La Liga starts in two weeks, on August 12th and ends May 26th of 2024.
