USA 1-1 Canada

NASHVILLE, TN–Both teams came into Nashville looking for a win after drawing their opening World Cup Qualifiers. In the end, Canada will likely be the more pleased with the result than the US as the sides finished 1-1. Wins have been at a premium so far in the Octagonal with just Mexico winning two of the three games that have had a winner so far. Panama has the other win over Jamaica.

As it stands, Canada stands in the third and final automatic qualifying position in the early going on goals scored while the USA are level with Honduras and El Salvador on two points and one goal scored.

Brendan Aaronson put the USA ahead in the 55th minute after a well-worked team goal that started with stripping the ball from Scott Kennedy. Seven minutes later though, the US committed the cardinal sin of allowing Alphonso Davies to get in behind DeAndre Yedlin and the former would find Cyle Larin for a tap-in equalizer.

Canada will return home to take on El Salvador at BMO Field in Toronto on Wednesday (6:30pm CT, Paramount+/One Soccer) while the US faces an early must-win at Honduras (9:30pm CT, Paramount+/NBC Universo). Needless to say that Gregg Berhalter will be on the hot seat now if not already.
