Summer 2021 may be coming to an end, but 2021 WoSo action shows no signs of cooling off just yet.

Portland will play host to this year’s Women’s International Champions Cup (WICC) with four of the best clubs in the world squaring off from August 18-21.

Two European giants, FC Barcelona (2020 Primera División winners) and Olympique Lyonnais (2020 UEFA Women’s Champions League winners) kick things off Wednesday night at Providence Park. Two of the NWSL’s finest, the Houston Dash (2020 Challenge Cup winners) and the Portland Thorns (2020 Fall Series winners) face-off in the second match of the doubleheader.

Wednesday’s winners will move on to the WICC Final Saturday night, while a third-place match will be played earlier in the day.

Olympique Lyonnais enter the tournament as defending champions, as the three other clubs make their debuts. FC Barcelona, on paper, look like tournament favorites after cruising past Chelsea in the UEFA Women’s Champions League final earlier this year.
