It was the Sophia Smith show at Providence Park, the night of March 8 in the victory over the Under 23 United States Women National Team. Sophia scored all three goals of the match up that asserted the dominance of the experienced Portland champions over the youth of the US side. The complete dominance of the Thorns was complemented with the touch of brilliance from the Thorns top international stars like Christine Sinclair and Rocky Rodriguez. All goals were scored in the first half, Sophia was subbed in the second for Morgan Weaver, the Portland forward, gave us another display of speed and strength and was unlucky to not add to the score with numerous close called goal opportunities.
