Ryan Spaulding loaned to Tampa Bay Rowdies of the USL Championship

FOXBOROUGH, MA– The New England Revolution have loaned defender Ryan Spaulding to the Tampa Bay Rowdies for the remainder of the 2023 USL Championship season.

Defender Ryan Spaulding was announced as part of the inaugural roster for the New England Revolution II of the USL League One on January 26th, 2020. In 53 appearances (43 starts) for the squad, Spaulding tallied over 4,000 minutes across the USL League One and MLS NEXT Pro sides. He scored 4 goals and tallied 3 assists along with 3 yellow cards.

Following his success with the Revolution II, fans and media members were quick to notice and began starting the hashtag on Twitter #AnnounceRyanSpaulding. The hashtag which took off due to members of the BlazingMusket, RevolutionRecap, and others tweeting on a weekly basis gained notice toward Spaulding and after one and a half seasons, Spaulding was called up to the first team.

On February 18th, 2022, Spaulding signed a professional contract with the New England Revolution’s MLS Roster. He made his MLS debut on March 12th, 2022 in a match versus Real Salt Lake and became the third graduate from the Revolution II to appear in a start a match with the first team.

During his time with the first team, Spaulding made 7 appearances (3 starts) for the squad. He tallied 260 minutes for the MLS side, scored 0 goals, and tallied 0 assists. He registered 2 shots and obtained a 76.9% pass accuracy.

On April 21st, 2023, the team announced via all social media platforms that the team had loaned Spaulding to the Tampa Bay Rowdies for the entirety of the 2023 USL Championship season. He will continue to wear the #34 for his new club.

Spaulding joins a Tampa Bay side that is currently in 9th place in the USL Championship with a record of 1 win, 2 draws, and 3 losses. The team currently has 5 points.

The Tampa Bay Rowdies (1-2-3, 5 pts.) are set to take on San Diego Loyal (3-2-1, 11 pts.) on Sunday, April 23rd. The match kicks off at 6:00 p.m. ET on ESPN +.

The New England Revolution (6-2-1, 20 pts.) stay home in Foxborough to face Hartford Athletic (1-2-3, 5 pts. in USL Championship) at Gillette Stadium on Tuesday, April 25 in a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Match. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.
