Revolution Academy forward Olger Escobar named to MLS NEXT All-Star Game

FOXBOROUGH, MA– New England Revolution forward Olger Escobar named to MLS NEXT All-Star Game!

This is the second ever MLS NEXT All-Star Game.

This match is presented by Allstate and will be held Wednesday, July 19 at 10:30 a.m. ET at the Naval Academy’s Glenn Warner Soccer Facility in Annapolis, Maryland.

Olger was selected amongst 44 players, who are all amongst best teams in youth soccer across the U.S. and Canada, were selected by MLS NEXT personnel following the conclusion of the 2023 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs and Showcase.

This season, Olger has tallied 15 goals for the U-17s during the 2022-23 regular season.

During the MLS NEXT Cup, Olger appeared for U17s and then after they were eliminated, he joined the U19 squad and played in the MLS NEXT Cup Semifinal and Final, helping New England claim their second consecutive national title on June 23.

The forward also has three appearances (36 total minutes) with Revolution II. He made his professional debut on April 21 vs. New York Red Bulls II. With the Revolution II, He has 0 goals and 0 assists. He holds 0 total shots. Offensively, he has a dribbling success rate of 66.7% and is 14/17 on passes (82.3% success rate). Defensively he has had 9 duels and holds a 33.3% duel percentage success rate.

Internationally, Escobar has earned four call-ups to the Guatemala Youth National Team, most recently in January for Concacaf World Cup qualifying matches, where he recorded a hat trick in Guatemala’s 8-3 win over Curaçao.

The New England Revolution (10-6-3, 36 pts.) head out to Cincinnati, Ohio to face MLS Eastern Conference leaders FC Cincinnati (13-4-2, 43 pts.) in an MLS Match on Saturday, July 1st. The match kicks off in TQL Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.

The New England Revolution II (8-5-3, 30 pts.) head out to Joe Davis Stadium in Huntsville, Alabama to face Huntsville City FC in an MLS NEXT match on Sunday July 2nd. The match kicks off at 5:00 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.
