Radio MLS, Episode 7: USMNT and MLS Week 5

0

Hello everyone! Welcome to this week’s edition of Radio MLS.

This week’s show is a bit shorter as our esteemed panel were on international break. So rather than going on for about 45 minutes about the 0-0 draw between FC Dallas and Seattle Sounders (we will leave that to Radio Cascadia. Good luck, fellas!) we are going to talk about the U.S. Men’s National Team.

It has been a tough week for our boys abroad (although to be fair our record in Europe is generally pretty terrible) so our regular host Sean Maslin steps away from the hosting chair and gives his thoughts and insight into all things USMNT.

The big issue that seems to have come out of this recent series of friendlies is the idea of changing the footballing identity of the USMNT. While USMNT coach (and U.S. Soccer Technical Director) Jurgen Klinsmann seems to want to move this country in a different direction, there those within the game that cling to what got the USA where it is today. Sean looks at the skills and traits that USMNT (and by extension US Soccer) have been identified with and whether or not this program should be settling with a system at such an early age.

We wrap up this week’s show with Matt Hoffman giving his three things that he is looking forward to in week number five of MLS.

Please check us out on iTunes and send any questions to Sean Maslin on Twitter using the hashtag #RadioMLS.
