Radio Cascadia Ep. 37 – Derby Review

Whitecaps v Portland-5280

We previewed it from both perspectives, and now we analyze it from both perspectives.

The Vancouver Whitecaps took the first Cascadia derby of the year with a dramatic 2-1 win over Portland, vaulting them up to second place in the Western Conference. Aaron Campbell, the happiest man in Cascadia, calls in to recap what was a lackluster performance from the Caps. It was effective enough to take the points though, and that’s what matters.

Ed Pham takes his time to mourn the match from the other side. We ponder what it will take for Portland to start turning chances into goals. The Timbers dominated the match, and even had chances in the moments leading up to Robert Earnshaw’s winner. So, how does the side go from performing well to picking up results? Tune in to find out.

Seattle’s sleeper with FC Dallas gets our attention (as much as it can…) in the latter stages of Ep. 37, where we praise Brad Evans and lament the lack of attacking talent on the field for the Sounders. Darwin Jones gets his deserved commendations after securing Player of the Week honors in the USL for his hat trick with S2 against the Thundercaps.

Cascadia, as a region, takes on Texas this week with two matches between the clubs residing in the aforementioned regions. The crew previews the ties, along with Vancouver’s match with LA Galaxy.

RC: All Cascadia, all the time. Especially against Texas (this week).
