Portland Timbers 1-0 started the 2023 MLS regular season with a 1-0 win over Sporting Kansas City. A hard win from the locals that saw defender Juan Mosquera first goal with the club, and the day view of the much talked new signing, the Brazilian midfielder Evander da Silva Ferreira. The match was scheduled for Saturday February 25, but a snow storm that dumped a foot of snow on Providence Park, home of the Portland Timbers, in a city not known for their handling of such storms, it was decided to postpone the match for Monday, February 27.
