Jordan Morris came on as a substitute in the second half and scored twice to help the defending champions overcome their CONCACAF Champions League heartbreak on Thursday to defeat Chicago Fire FC, 2-1, in front of over 40,000 at CenturyLink Field. Robert Beric put the Fire ahead in the 46th minute, but it was Morris who would do the scorching with help from Cristian Roldan both times including off a corner in the third minute of second half stoppage time. The Fire have never won a game in Cascadia (0-13-4 all-time in league play) and have not won a season opener since 2009 (0-7-4 since).
