MLS fans set for a thrilling run during May

May promises to be an exciting month in Major League Soccer (MLS), with some mouth-watering fixtures scheduled to take place over the next few weeks.

Numerous teams have made impressive starts to the new season and each will be looking to strengthen their position towards the head of their respective Conferences.

Read on as we look at four of the best fixtures taking place during May.

NY Red Bulls v LA Galaxy – May 4

Galaxy are already prominent in the MLS odds tables to win the championship after making a solid start to the new campaign.

Former Manchester United star Zlatan Ibrahimovic has continued his impressive form for the club, with his double against Portland Timbers during March the highlight of his season to date.

The Red Bulls made an indifferent start to the season, but they have lost just two of their last seven meetings with Galaxy and will fancy their chances of taking something from the game.

Seattle Sounders v Houston Dynamo – May 12

Seattle struggled with injuries for most of last season, but they have had a much more settled look about them this term.

The Sounders have looked solid defensively and will be eager to continue their excellent recent form at CenturyLink Field.

Houston also impressed during the early part of the season, but they have a poor record in Seattle and the home side are strongly fancied to collect three points.

Toronto FC v DC United – May 16

Last season was a humbling experience for Toronto having claimed the MLS Cup with a victory over Seattle the previous year.

Their stylish 4-0 demolition of New York City FC towards the end of March highlighted that they could be a force to be reckoned with this season.

The two sides fought out a 4-4 draw on United’s last visit to Toronto and their latest meeting should be another exciting game, particularly with Wayne Rooney remaining in fine form for the visitors.

LAFC v FC Dallas – May 17

LAFC finished third in the Western Conference last season, before slipping to a surprise 3-2 defeat against Real Salt Lake in the play-offs.

However, they have made a strong start to the new campaign and are the early favourites to win the MLS Cup this time around.

Dallas took four points from their two meetings with LAFC last season, but the home side look a good bet to record a victory in this one.
