Nat is really fascinated with some of these statistics and facts. He thinks you should be too.

We decided to accumulate a list of stats that might be useful for you guys to know about.

April 13 – There are three players between the Columbus Crew and Portland Timbers that share the same birthday (Tony Tchani, Nat Borchers, and Jack Jewsbury). Its also the same birthday as Guy Falkes, Garry Kasparov, and one Carlos Puyol. It’s also the same day that Tiger Woods became the youngest player to win the Masters tournament. Vietnam’s first emperor, Ly Nam De, also died on April 13. Random.

2-2-2 – There’s been six meetings between the Columbus Crew and the Portland Timbers. There’s been two wins, two draws, and two losses. Each team has scored six goals in those six games. Even.

5-0-3 – The current record of the Portland Timbers in their last eight games. 503 is also an area code number for Portland. Destiny?

19 – The number of fouls that Portland committed against Columbus, tied for the most in a game by the Timbers in 2015. It’s also the tied for the most fouls that Columbus suffered in a game in 2015.

2-14-2 – The combined record of both the Timbers and the Crew when they’ve trailed at halftime.

2013 – The last year that two former MLS players have been head coaches of the MLS Cup (Sporting Kansas City’s Peter Vermes and Real Salt Lake’s Jason Kreis). This year marks the second year that’s happened.

6 – The number of players that played at University of Akron that are featured on both rosters for the MLS Cup (Crew’s Wil Trapp, Chad Barson, Ben Speas, Timbers’s Darlington Nagbe, Ben Zemanski, and Michael Nanchoff).

0 – The number of times that Nat Borchers featured in an MLS Cup in which the game didn’t go into a penalty shootout (he’s been to the MLS Cup twice).

131 – The number of minutes that Cascadia Corner Player of the Year Jorge Villafaña didn’t play in the MLS Regular Season.

5 – Number of combined goals scored by the Timbers and the Crew outside of the penalty area.

19 – The number of combined goals conceded by the Timbers and the Crew outside of the penalty area.
