Messi may be coming to Seattle

World Cup finalists Argentina will play in Seattle in the 2016 Copa America.

Their opposition on June 14th will be the 4th seed in Group D.

Seattle will also see another group game, from Group B when the 3rd and 4th seeds clash on June 4. The winners of Group A, which includes the USA, will play the second side in Group B, which includes Brazil in the quarter final on June 18 in the Emerald City.

“It’s an honor to welcome a prestigious tournament like the Copa America Centenario to Seattle next summer, and we’re thrilled to bring this historic event to the proud soccer fans of the Pacific Northwest,” said Sounders FC Owner Adrian Hanauer in a club release.

“Hosting an international power like Argentina and a potential Quarterfinal match featuring the United States at CenturyLink Field only adds to the rich and storied tradition of soccer history in this city.”

The US side will play in Santa Clara, Chicago and Philadelphia in Group play.

Seattle is one of 10 metropolitan areas selected to host matches during the Copa America Centenario, which honors 100 years of the Copa America tournament and runs from June 3-26, 2016 throughout the United States.
